December is upon us, friends! And you know what that means!!!
Unabashed materialism and gift-giving! America!
I’ve already got the gift for my Mah, Brah, and a few choice others picked out, but i’m sure they’re having a hard time figuring out what to buy me.
Let me make it easy for you.
Without further ado, The 2011 Christmas List!!!
The 12-inch. Not the Buckaroo. Not the Kangaroo. The Walnut. From Nokona. What’s more American than that?
2. The Toshiba Canvio 3.0 500GB External Hard Drive
Because 8MB images from the Nikon are rapidly eating my MacBook’s drive.
3. This Rotation
Wilson, Garza, Darvish, Feliz, Harrison, Holland.
Pick your Favorite Five.
4. Portal 2
Because I am both intelligent and intrigued by puzzles.
Ready for your close-up?
That’s all I have for right now.
I have been on a MAD soul music kick lately, and my Sam Cooke station on Pandora is feeding my fire.
The Dynamic Duo, A.K.A. Sam & Dave, were known for their sweaty, energetic onstage performances and their earth-shatteringly incredible soul swag. They had most of their hits in the late 60’s, and used to open for Otis Redding and other superstars of the genre. Legends say that when Sam & Dave were onstage, Otis Redding would be backstage shitting his pants, worrying that he wouldn’t be able to top Sam & Dave. They were that good.
Their 1967 hit “Soul Man” was famously covered by The Blues Brothers, but perhaps less famous is the fact that the entire existence of The Blues Brothers is a direct homage to Sam & Dave, especially their onstage act.
In summation: Sam & Dave go hard.
Also: This is a timely SotD, because today i’ll be heading into the Corpus Christi area to see my peeps. Hold on! I’m comin’!
I want this to be me in 5-7 years. But, with more hair.
Thanks to Sean & Matt for this one.
A special lady-friend of mine came to visit me in Arizona this weekend, and we went to Sedona, Arizona on Saturday, November 19, and then to the Grand Canyon on Sunday, November 20.
And people claim that God created this.
He wouldn’t have had time.

What’s with all this Brooklyn music!?!!?
Sleigh Bells (which is a pretty weird name for a band that makes music like this) is from Brooklyn, and they’re classified as “Noise-Pop” by their Wikipedia article, which is sort of appropriate. The vocalist, Alexis Krauss, used to be some kind of a model too, and she’s still pretty damn hot.
This is an Anthem, so rock it hard.
Here’s a different song, just to see what they’re like in motion:
YES! Finally! I just finished the book trilogy about 2 weeks ago, and it’s pretty great. Brutal as hell, too. It does not end well for many of these people. Anyways, I really like the look and feel of this trailer. I think they’ve nailed the tone, and I love the actors.
I’m so pumped for this.
